How
the SATGo Search Engine works |
You may choose from the drop down list a Southern African
country. If South Africa is your choice you can be more
specific and choose a Province, or a Region, or a specific
City or Town. If the town you are looking for is not
available on the drop down list, enter its name as a
keyword. If you have no preference as to where to go
at this stage, it doesn't matter. Move on to the 1-15
drop down list.
and Both these options work in the same
way. From the drop down lists choose what you'd like
to see and do. If you have selected an option from "where
to go", say Cape Town, you are now telling the
SATGo Search Engine to search the site for your choices
of what to see and what to do in Cape Town only. If
you have not selected an option from "where to
go", you are telling the SATGo Search Engine to
search the site for your choices of what to see and
what to do throughout the information contained on the
site.
That's how the SATGo Search
Engine works, progressively. If you make a choice from
a drop down list, that choice sets the limits within
which your 1-15 choice is made. If no choice is made
from a drop down list, your 1-15 choice is not limited.
You choose how focused to make your choice.
Choose an option of the kind of accommodation you prefer.
Of course, you might already have stipulated where the accommodation
is, and that it be associated with what you want to see and do. There
again, you might not have restricted your search. And finally, you
may choose not to click on an accommodation type because you are
only interested in where to go, or what's on.
If you wish to you can search for specific words, be
they the names of hotels, destinations, towns, subjects
of interest to you, whatever. If those words are in
our database, the SATGo Search Engine will find them.
The SATGo Search Engine will rank the results of your search in the
following order:
- SATGo Clients that have paid to be on the site and
have recently updated their information, thereby keeping
the information current and informing us of what's
happening and what there is to do and see, are ranked
first. The SATGo Search Engine searches the submissions
by our Clients thereby encouraging them to keep their
information current if they wish to rank high in the
search results. The displayed results will be links
to the Clients' pages on our web site which have detailed
information about them including an e-mail link and
a link to their own web site.
- 1-15 to appear in the results are SATGo Clients
that have paid to be on the site and have not recently
updated their information. The displayed results will
be links to the Clients' pages on our web site which
have detailed information about them including an
e-mail link and a link to their own web site.
- in order to give you a comprehensive answer to your
search we have entered the names and limited information
about as many South African travel and tourism service
providers as we can trace. These organizations will
appear third in the search results.
On the right hand side of the search results pages there are text ads paid
for by our Clients that contain a link to their web site or to their
detailed page on our web site.
Banners on search results pages are bought by interested
parties "buying" keywords. For instance, an
advertiser might decide to "buy" the keyword
/ phrase "Kruger National Park". In that instance,
every time the phrase "Kruger National Park"
is searched, the advertiser's banner will appear on
the first search results page.

South African Travel Guide differs from other travel
portals in many ways. We are neither an encyclopedia
of millions of facts about South Africa, nor are we
umpteen lists of one kind of travel service providers,
like hotels for instance. Rather, we see ourselves as
a search engine that helps you make your decision to
travel to South Africa by answering a number of your
questions with current, accurate and relevant information.
When we designed the SATGo
Search Engine we imagined someone at home in a town
like Birmingham, or Berlin, or Boston, or Blikkiesfontein
and pondering "When I go to South Africa I wonder
where I should go, what I should do and see, and where
I should stay, and how I'll get around. And while I'm
in the country traveling around I wonder what's on that
I can attend so that I make the most of my time there.
Perhaps I should plan my trip to coincide with an event
or exhibition I'm interested in. There again, I've heard
lots about the Kruger National Park!"
